Father’s Day 2015 in the Great Smoky Mountains

On Sunday, June 21, 2015, we will celebrate Father’s Day, a time when we celebrate and honor the dads in our lives. Father’s Day itself was first commemorated back on June 19, 1910, in the State of Washington, and was born out of originally Mother’s Day, which was proclaimed by then-President Woodrow Wilson as an official holiday in 1914. Father’s Day itself would not be recognized as a nationwide holiday until 1972, when it was officially recognized by President Richard Nixon. Since that time, millions of Americans take time to celebrate and honor dads everywhere, spending nearly $1 billion annually every year to buy gifts for Dad.

In addition, there are lots of great activities going on right now in and around the Gatlinburg area, especially during the summer season. You can visit the City of Gatlinburg’s official website to find out some of the many activities going on right now, and you can also go to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park website to find out events going in the National Park, located right in our area’s backyard. Lots of great activities and opportunities for your family, friends, and others, as well as Dad, to enjoy this weekend!

With great events and activities here in our area, it is no wonder why so many people come to the Great Smoky Mountains every year. Why not see what else the Smokies can do for you today?
