Honoring Memorial Day in the Great Smoky Mountains

The Jason White Team, as well as everyone here at Century 21 Four Seasons Realty, Inc., would like to take this opportunity to honor Memorial Day, and to remember all of those who have served, fought for, and died for our great country. Your service inspires us all, and we thank you for your service to this country of ours.

In commemoration of Memorial Day, there are several events going on in and around Sevier County. One particular event directly connected with Memorial Day is the 1st Annual Sevier County High School Memorial Day 5K, which is being held on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2014, at Sevier County High School, with registration at 7 AM, and the 5K starting at 8 AM. All proceeds will go to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project and the Sevier County High School Foundation. In addition, there will also be other events taking place throughout Sevier County this weekend. One of the largest events going on this weekend is the Dollywood Barbeque and Bluegrass Festival, which starts Saturday, May 24th, and runs through June 8th, at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge. Park admission during the Festival time will include access to many different bluegrass artists and concerts, along with plenty of barbeque for everyone! Another great music event takes place starting tomorrow, May 23rd, and running through Sunday, May 25th, at the Gatlinburg Convention Center. This is the Gaither Family Fest in the Smokies, featuring the well-known gospel singers/songwriters Bill and Gloria Gaither, and many other gospel singers, songwriters, and more. As we honor Memorial Day here in the Smokies, we truly consider ourselves fortunate to live a great country and to be a part of a great area like the Great Smoky Mountains. In and around Sevier County, there are a number of events taking place to celebrate Easter weekend. The 26th Annual New Year’s Eve Ball Drop and Fireworks Show around the intersection of the Parkway (U.S. 441) and the Historic Nature Trail at the base of Space Needle in downtown Gatlinburg is always a well-attended event.

At the stroke of midnight on December 31, 2013, fireworks will blast off the rooftop of the 400-foot tall Space Needle with music choreographed for the show produced by Pyro-Shows of LaFollette, Tennessee. The Space Needle has added sequencing LED lights to the tower, making for a spectacular display. Leading up to midnight, there will be free music and entertainment in the parking lot adjacent to the Gatlinburg Convention Center, and much, much more!!! 3rd Annual Santa Hustle Half Marathon and 5K Run/Walk This Weekend in Sevierville!

One of the many wonderful features of the Great Smoky Mountains deals with the many variety of holiday-related events and activities that go on during the Christmas season, and this weekend is no exception!

On Sunday, December 15th, the 3rd Annual Santa Hustle Half Marathon and 5K Run/Walk is being held in Sevierville, at the Wilderness Resort, starting at 7:30 AM. This event is growing fast, and has gained considerable attention in the brief time that this event has been held.

As a part of this event, every participant will receive a free Santa hat, beard, and customized Santa shirt to wear while running. In addition, there will be outrageous holiday decorations, festive music, and a large after party. People everywhere have fallen in love with the race that encourages its participants to have fun while staying healthy.

Furthermore, the Santa Hustle has received national attention from major media outlets like the Travel Channel, ESPN, and the Rachel Ray Show. The Santa Hustle Race is a part of a major nationwide series during the Christmas season, consisting of 6 races in the cities of Chicago, IL, Milwaukee, WI, Sevierville, TN, Indianapolis, IN, Sandusky, OH, and Galveston, TX. Celebrate The Fourth Of July In The Smokies

Are you planning to be in the Smoky Mountains this upcoming Fourth of July Weekend? There are numerous events and festivals to make your trip memorable. Sevier County likes to celebrate and the Fourth of July is no exception. Let’s take a look at a view of the scheduled events.

Gatlinburg is host to the “First Independence Day Parade In The Nation” with festivities kicking off at the stroke of midnight. With more than 100,000 people expected to be on hand for the festivities it is an event not to miss. The Parade will feature Women Veterans and other U.S. Heroes as the Grand Marshals. Joining them will be the 572nd U.S. Air Force Band, members of every branch of our military as well as vintage military vehicles and much more. During the day on July 4th Gatlinburg continues to provide entertainment with the River Raft Regatta (an unmanned floatables race), several free concerts and a stunning fireworks display.

Pigeon Forge also offers up plenty to do for the Holiday. 1:00 in the afternoon marks the kick off of the 23rd Annual Pigeon Forge Patriot Festival.The event is free and lasts into the late evening. There is a Kids’ Karnival Zone with games and inflatables, a large sampling of food from local vendors that are sold to benefit local charities and more. There is a Veteran’s Salute to participate in and the entire event is a strong show of appreciation to those who do or have served in the military. The tribute band “Hotel California” will be the opening music act followed by Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers. As evening comes the sky will be lit up with a fantastic fireworks display.
