In commemoration of Memorial Day, there are several events going on in and around Sevier County. One particular event directly connected with Memorial Day is the 1st Annual Sevier County High School Memorial Day 5K, which is being held on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2014, at Sevier County High School, with registration at 7 AM, and the 5K starting at 8 AM. All proceeds will go to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project and the Sevier County High School Foundation. In addition, there will also be other events taking place throughout Sevier County this weekend. One of the largest events going on this weekend is the Dollywood Barbeque and Bluegrass Festival, which starts Saturday, May 24th, and runs through June 8th, at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge. Park admission during the Festival time will include access to many different bluegrass artists and concerts, along with plenty of barbeque for everyone! Another great music event takes place starting tomorrow, May 23rd, and running through Sunday, May 25th, at the Gatlinburg Convention Center. This is the Gaither Family Fest in the Smokies, featuring the well-known gospel singers/songwriters Bill and Gloria Gaither, and many other gospel singers, songwriters, and more.
