For first time in the 81 years of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, every stream in the Park will now be open for fishing. This recent announcement by the National Park is the culmination of a massive restoration effort for the streams inside the Park, where fish native to the area were restored to their rightful habitats, taking many years to accomplish. Now, the levels of native fish in the streams are at a point where recreational fishing can begin, provided that the proper regulations for fishing are followed by those wanting to fish. A great and exciting accomplishment, to be sure, along with being a great comeback story for nature, as well.
